Privacy Policy

Hold My Lid is built to stay out of your way and out of your data. This page explains what the app, the website, and the checkout collect, and what they never touch.

The short version

  • The app never reads your code, prompts, agent output, or terminal sessions.
  • Agent Working / Idle signals are processed on your Mac and never leave it.
  • The app has no usage analytics or ad tracking.
  • Payments are handled by Polar; we receive your email and license details, nothing more.
  • The website uses Microsoft Clarity for aggregate, anonymous usage analytics.

The Hold My Lid app

Hold My Lid is a macOS menu bar app that holds a power assertion while a watched coding agent is working. To do that it receives a small lifecycle signal from agents such as Claude Code, Codex, and OpenCode (a "working" or "idle" event per session) and watches whether processes like Cursor or Gemini CLI are running. It reads nothing else: not your source code, not your prompts, not your agent's output, not your terminal history, not your files.

All of this processing happens locally on your Mac. The app does not include analytics, telemetry, crash-reporting, or advertising SDKs. Settings such as your battery cut-off, shortcut, and notification preferences are stored on your machine only.

The app connects to the internet only to validate your license key and to check for updates. Those requests identify your license and app version, not you or your work.

Purchases and licenses

Checkout is handled by Polar (polar.sh). Polar processes your payment and collects the billing details it needs, under its own privacy policy. We do not see or store your card number. After a purchase we receive your name, email address, and the license key that was issued, and we use them to deliver the license, activate up to three Macs, handle refunds, and answer support requests.

We keep purchase records for as long as your license is active and for as long as tax and accounting rules require. We do not sell or share this information with anyone other than the payment processor.

The website (holdmylid.app)

The website uses Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use the site: which pages are viewed, where people click, and how far they scroll. Clarity may set cookies and collect device and browser information, and can record anonymised session replays. This data is aggregated and is not used to identify you. You can read more in Microsoft's privacy statement, and block Clarity with any standard tracker-blocking extension without affecting the site.

The site loads the Geist Mono typeface from Google Fonts, which means your browser requests the font files from Google's servers. The site shows no ads and uses no advertising trackers.

If you take part in the creator discount, we receive the video link, view count screenshot, and purchase email you send us, and use them only to process the discount or refund.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Deleting your purchase record will also revoke your license. Email shobhit@holdmylid.app and we will respond within 30 days.

Children

Hold My Lid is a developer tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If we change how Hold My Lid handles data we will update this page and the date at the top. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
